HARVESTING WINDOW OF BASMATI
Harvest the crop at proper maturity i.e. when more than 80% ears are nearly ripe and straw turns yellow, to avoid shattering. Manual harvesting should be preferred to ensure good grain quality. Thrash the crop on the day it is harvested or a day after harvesting. Combine-harvested crop should be properly cleaned before marketing. At the time of marketing, moisture content in grains should not be more than 15-17 per cent.
